AGRITURISMO SAN BASILIO

Things to do in Cilento

Our farm is located in the quiet, but not far from the beautiful and lively city of Salerno: we are therefore the ideal starting point to discover all the beauty of Cilento, a land of nature, culture, history and culinary delights. San Basilio is located between the sea and the mountains and from here you can quickly reach the archaeological sites of Velia and Paestum as well as the well-known tourist resorts of Ascea, Casalvelino and Palinuro. Salento is known as the “Land of Poetry”, where every year, on the mythical night of San Lorenzo, the National “Cilento Poesia”  Prize is awarded, dedicated to the greatest contemporary poets who for years have chosen to stay in the historical “Giovanni Pascoli” room.

We are always at your disposal: during your stay we will advise you on the best activities for you.

Paestum

Visiting Paestum and walking through its ancient walls means taking a step back in time, imagining ancient times and discovering the best preserved temples in the world. A cultural, artistic and personal inspiration to be experienced!

Palinuro

Palinuro (a hamlet of Centola) is one of those places that have always fascinated travellers from all ages. The rocky promontory jutting out into the sea with its beauty and also with its pitfalls for ancient sailors, inspired the poet Virgil in the passage of the Aeneid in which he recounts the death of Aeneas’ helmsman Palinuro, after whom the Cilento town is named.

Roscigno Vecchia

Roscigno Vecchia is one of the most fascinating villages in Cilento, defined by everyone as a ghost town because it is no longer inhabitable. A slow migration began, leading to the almost total abandonment of the village in the late 1950s and 1960s, between Roscigno Nuova and the neighbouring villages.

Acciaroli

From our farmhouse you can also easily reach Acciaroli and the sea. But the scenic beauty of this village does not end with its coves and beaches. The area in which it is located is characterised by hundreds and hundreds of lanes and footpaths and steps used historically by shepherds that are still in use today. Perfect for those who love hiking!

Velia Archaeological Park

The Elea-Velia Archaeological Park, also known as the Velia excavations, is one of the most important cultural attractions in Cilento.  For those who love hiking and nature walks, the paths of the Velia excavations are the best choice. Nature and history come together to offer visitors a unique experience.

Capelli di Venere waterfalls

The Capelli di Venere (Venus’s Hair) waterfalls in Cilento, more precisely in Casaletto Spartano in the province of Salerno. A wonder that springs from the waters of the Bussentino known by this poetic name because the oasis in which it is located is home to the Capelvenere plant, a type of fern that grows luxuriantly here.

Cilento by air

Dare to fly! Experience a unique feeling, day and night, surrounded by unspoilt nature, with sunsets and 360° panoramic views, where you can admire the Gulf of Salerno, the Amalfi Coast, the island of Capri, the archaeological digsite and breathtaking views of the Cilento Coast and the splendid waters of the sea at Paestum.
